Where have all the fire hydrants gone????

At this time of the year when the snow begins to fall a strange phenomenon takes places.  Fire hydrants all around our fire district begin to disappear. Where do they go? you ask. They become buried under snow. Sometimes snow plows bury them, sometimes snow blowing or shoveling bury them or even a large storm can bury them. If you can't see the Fire hydrant near your home, than nether can a firefighter that may be called to respond to your location in the event of a fire emergency.

You should be aware that on the average a fire doubles in size every 60 seconds. A firefighters time can be better spent putting out the fire than waste a precious five minutes or more trying to locate and dig out a buried hydrant.

You can help us help you by locating the closest Fire hydrant to your home and if it is buried dig it out. Please clean it at least two feet all the way around the hydrant, with a pathway from the edge of the road to the hydrant. Please remember to check your hydrant periodically to make sure it stays clean.

A  dug out Hydrant is a happy Hydrant.

Fuller Road Fire Department. is very proud to have Engine 412 featured in Firehouse as an "Innovative Rig."  Our apparatus committee worked long and hard with Sutphen to make sure that Engine 412 was designed and built to meet the demands of the incidents that we face in our district and mutual aid districts.  The department membership worked tirelessly to mount all the equipment and get our new piece ready for service quickly and correctly.  It is an honor to recieve recognition for all the time and effort that went into making Engine 412 what it is today.
