Irene Pays A Visit

As Hurricane Irene paid the Fuller Road Fire District a visit, there was already a stand-by crew in the station waiting to help the community. As Irene past she dumped approximately 5.33 inches of rain with wind gust around 48 mph. For the next few days the Fuller Road Fire Department responded to approximately 25 calls involving basement pump outs or wires arching. They also responded to Menands Fire Departments request for the boat and fire police to assist with the rising waters of the Hudson River. An outstanding job was done by all those who responded to the community's needs.
Also during this time there is a great rush to buy generators. Get licensed electrician to help with the proper installation to your home. A potential hazard from these units is carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. These units should be used outdoors only and between 10 and 15 feet away from the structure. NFPA has great safety list of the do's and don'ts for their proper use.

Tropical Storm Lee follows Irene

A week after the devastating storm and flooding, Tropical Storm Lee drop another approximately 4 inches of rain. Since the ground was already saturated that meant more flooding. Along with the flooding the Fuller Road Fire Department went into full community help by pumping out of more cellars and wiring arching problems. Another great job for all those who participated.
